I remember working past midnight in an old earthquake-non-compliant building that had creaking floor panels. A colleague once said to never look down into the holes in the floor in case you saw some eyes looking back at you. It was just a joke, of course, but when it's past midnight and you're tired, your mind can go to some funny places...
