I guess they were making an understatement for rhetorical effect. People from all over France seem to come to Paris to protest as they can get more visibility that way.

A French friend of mine told me he doesn't have Netflix -- he can just to Place de la Concorde, a big public square, every Saturday to get his entertainment fix. Protests happen there all the time, so there's never a dull moment.

There's been strikes happening almost every week since the start of 2023. In fact, there was another strike today, and so the metro was almost empty. Most people avoid the metro on strike days because they assume it would be packed. But ironically, because everyone stays at home, the metro ends up being far quieter than normal
