Goodbye Sunshine, Welcome Back Clouds

Another cloudy day has descended upon Paris, and any hints of sunshine are being extinguished before they've had a chance to lift anyone’s mood.

As has become a trend lately, I spent all of yesterday indoors. The day before yesterday I had only left the building to go for a run, and so I must have spent close to forty hours inside.

I’ve recently come back from a run, which will probably be the only time I go outside today, but I find that even if I’m only outside for, say, half an hour, just having that simple rupture to the endless indoor hours can make a world of difference.

While I was running outside this morning, I didn’t see as many people as I had expected to. Though I saw people waiting at bus shelters, and the odd jogger, it was a pretty quiet start to the weekend. I guess this grey weather wasn’t doing anyone any favours, and when there’s nowhere to go except for potentially-infected supermarkets and streets at risk of rain, it doesn’t take much to drop your pen, throw your hands up in the air and leave your not-quite-up-to-date attestation form on the table to gather another day’s dust.

During my jog, I saw a couple of kids swinging on a swing sofa on their balconey. Further down the road, a few people were queuing outside a makeshift…
