David Ogilvy, the British advertising copywriter, once wrote that before he got into advertising, he spent some time working in a fancy restaurant in Paris. And according to him, fancy restaurants have filthy kitchens. That was the 1950s, mind you. I'm sure things are different now (well at least I hope so!). I've never gotten sick after eating out in Paris, and I can't afford to eat in expensive restaurants, so I'm not really fazed by hygiene
