Kia ora, bonjour, hello.

My name is William and I’m a New Zealand creative based in Paris.

I’m an advertising copywriter by trade, a lover of languages by chance, a photography enthusiast by choice, and an Arsenal supporter by necessity.

I started my Medium blog in 2020 to keep a diary online and the lockdown blues at bay. Fast-forward a few years and it’s morphed into a sort of journal where I write about things that interest me: photography, art, football, language, literature, philosophy, my life in France, or some weird combination of all of these.

I’ve written for some of the most active publications on Medium including Human Parts, The Writing Cooperative, Full Frame, Language Lab, Better Marketing & Bootcamp.

I’ve also received three Medium Staff Picks, a mention on Medium’s 2024 end-of-year honours list for stories they were “especially proud to be home to”, plus Top Writer status in Art, Design, Photography, Travel & Food.

If you’d like to support my work by buying me a flat white coffee (or 50), I’d be eternally grateful: ko-fi.com/williamsidnam

I’m also currently documenting torn advertising posters in the Paris metro. To see the latest finds, you can follow me at https://www.instagram.com/metrotears/
